Methane hydrate sticks - tis a big worry.
Methane hydrate sticks are slicks of methane held in a frozen form, they are stable as long as they are not disturbed..Papua New Guinea sissop lagoon tsunami gave Japan an insight into how they behave during subsea quakes...a small methane hydrate release and the ocean burns..as soon as the slick is disturbed the methane burns on the surface of the ocean.
Releasing.....tonnes ...trillions of tonnes..of methane (greenhouse) gas.
