I'm not sure what you are talking about with "predicting" anything, it was a thesis, an opinion..
I thought it was pretty common knowledge that stocks will usually have a capitulation event on the 4th/5th day, especially as volume and range expands.
Mean reversion trading might be a bit out of your depth.
