People sell for a variety of reasons.

I am responding to your post because I sold some today @ 1.7. My reason??
Previously I had sold stock in another company to fund purchase of IPT. Today an opportunity presented itself to buy back some of that other company, which I jumped on.... result = overall my position in both stocks has improved over the earlier positions.

Regardless of such opportunistic trading... I only started to make money in the market (after many many years of consistently losing) when I adopted a money management approach. Even if I knew 100% a stock was going to the moon I would (these days) take a small percentage off the table as it rises. I have learned it is best to trade very sparingly but whenever a profit arises you have to stop and reconsider the position. Although you might trim the position it means your average buy price improves.

The only thing you have absolute control over is how you handle the money.... everything else in the market is out to get you.
