Seriously though, as TA007 mentions, these reports should be viewed as sales tools. And as you concluded are great I find for gleaning info to START research on a company. The data needs to be critically analysed - eg. TAM for companies often is laughable - '2.5 billion people are affected by abc' but disregard 70% are in impoverished countries and will never have access to the product in their lifetime. There are useful data from 'reliable' sources to give a much better evaluation on a company's current and near future growth than many newsletters / reports pushed out by 'investment advisory' businesses.
