re: easter/crucifixion briter/nazareth There has been a lot of effort put into this discussion and I just want to add my penny's worth.

There is no need and no evidence of any god.

There is no evidence of answered prayer or miracles.

There has always been a need to stabalise communities for our survival and well being and that of our our progeny and the way to do that is to stress others rather than ourselves.

This is the essence of religion. Others first before our selves. This may make our lives less enjoyable in one sense but a sense of satisfaction in the greater good or doing the will of a god makes up for it with the added benefit of a reward is in the afterlife.

We should be smart enough now to see the wisdom of this philosophy without the need to add mystic overtones.

Even the Christian religion acknowledges that belief is for the weak. Those who are intellectually and emotionally weak are entitled to a crutch and if superstition helps them cope with life, then fair enough, but don't let them impose this on the rest of us.
