I find these discussions concerning. We were such a better educated populace up until the Howard era. To my mind it is a reflection of the level of misinformation, anti-intellectualism and dumbing down which became a hallmark of the time since Howard was elected. As a society, if we don't embrace science, we'll be always be second best, confined to a future of digging up rocks and importing technology from others who value academia.
