internet "research"or doctorate level research? To me it seems rather simple, more carbon than the biosphere can deal with builds up and increases the heat retained in the system. I agree that at some stage it comes down to a particular level of belief either way, however I'm more inclined to support those who work in the field as opposed to those who don't.
