I recall in the 70's it was only us wogs that ate squid, octopus, cuttlefish, mussels, sardines and a lot of other seafood that Australians either regarded as bait of would not touch.
We use to go out and collect Abalone and clams, a family freind was a Cray fisherman and use to bring us sack full of giant deep sea crabs.
All that stuff is now ridiculously expensive
