The Ebola virus is from the same virus family as the Hendra virus that is present in QLD and NSW. Both are endemic in Bats ... Bats give Hendra to Horses which give it to Humans and the symptoms and death rates are comparable. The W Africa Ebola outbreak has been traced back to a little Girl eating a piece of fallen fruit that a Bat had nibbled on. Previous outbreaks are attributed to eating Bush Meat (Monkeys) as they get it from Bats by also eating infected fruit.
