I agree with your analysis and I would add the following corroborating material from the Inpex web site for information:

Seems to me that Inpex is uniquely placed to partner NXS. However, it is a two edged sword. They are uniquely placed, but because of their very significant interest I think that also gives them bargaining power to drive a better deal for themselves out of NXS because of the limited interest of others. NXS needs Inpex more than Inpex needs NXS and Echuca Shoals.
