EGR's patent has been opposed by Renascor and Dorfner, an international German corporation.
If the opponents are successful, what does this mean for EGR. IMO:
- It may no long paint itself as a tech company as some have suggested it is. There is nothing novel or innovative in its tech - The world is fully aware now of its processes. Any competitive advantage it may have had is no gone. - If POSCO & Thyssenkrupp were interested in the tech, does this significantly put at risk the MOU's with them. There is now no benefit to them. - Why was the original patent lodged let to lapse? Was it because it was unlikely to be approved? Does this then mean the approved patent was at best a split decision and could have gone either way?
- Given the above and the fact that IMO the patent is critical to EGR's Kwinana and global expansion operations does this put EGR business model at risk?
- Were the shorter's anticipating such opposition to the patent i wonder. Perhaps they were visionaries and explain the share price EGR has been under.
All will be revealed in due course one way or another.
This clearly is an unwanted distraction to EGR given it is at a critical stage in its life with approvals, offtakes, govt funding all pending
