I am interested in people's perspective on the economic downturn that seems to be here (or just around the corner). How will it impact Afterpay? As a shareholder I am concerned. An economic downturn, or even a recession, I believe will hit Afterpay's business model in two ways:
1) Consumers won't spend as much, so revenue will fall
2) Defaults/bad debts will increase, so Afterpay's costs will increase. Revenue will also be hit again as more late payment fees will go unpaid.
I am concerned that this will be particularly bad in the US. I'd like to here from other share holders what they think. Does Afterpay have a business model that is robust enough to withstand an economic downturn or, worse, a recession? Is Afterpay just a "fair weather" business?
Cheers. Good luck.
