A small business owner's view on the economy15m agoBy Gareth Hutchens I'll be very interested to see how the inflation/CPI data plays out over the next few months, and wages/hours worked. I run a motel on the South Coast of NSW, and we have just had our worst June in 11 years - including Covid affected years. People aren't travelling domestically for leisure, and those that are, the demographic has changed quite dramatically compared to the last 7-8 years. Our staff have lost quite a few hours, we've had to cut back on subcontractors, and any and all major maintenance projects are on hold indefinitely - the money is just not there.I think things are going to get alot worse before they get better. Small business is *hurting*. I don't know any one who isn't worried at the moment, regardless of industry.- Kimberley
