I thought that I would start a thread where we can discuss the market of the ECS verticals/new product/ future products/ global markets/ regulatory approvals and general ECS related research matters. I believe that discussing these areas can give us a solid understanding of the markets in which we are selling into, regulations and the potential upside of the Cannabis market as a whole.

I thought that I would start things off with the Terpine blends that are available to consumers on a non-prescription basis. In particularly the Beta Caryophyllene blends that ECS sells. (https://www.aussiepharmadirect.com.au/products/ecs-botanics-relief-terpene-oil).

Terpenes may be derived from both cannabis and non-cannabis sources (Black Pepper is notoriously high in b-caryophyllene). These products selectively inhibits CB2 and potentially in new research areas the CB1 receptors without the effects that THC exhibits as it works in the peripheral nervous system. They are reportedly as effective as opioids in peripheral pain relief whilst being non-addictive and not a scheduled medicine. They are also fantastic adjuncts to existing Cannabis products, exhibiting the “Entourage effect” where less cannabis is required to have equal systemic effects. I believe this market is under-utilised, as prescriptions can be quite expensive, so a product that reduces the amount inhaled/consumed to have desired effects is a cost saving measure for consumers.

This market isn’t widely recognised, yet. And it is surprised that there is not TGA approval required for the products. I have purchased them myself for research purposes and can categorically say that the muscle relaxant and anxiolytic effects are equal to that of cannabis products without any psychoactive side-effects.

Has anyone else used or have experience with these products? ECS seems to be the only reputable source of B-Caryophyllene in Aus and if this product takes off in both the therapeutic and recreational markets, we could be into a winner.
