The Australian standards are pretty good, the issue is that there is no enforcement of compliance. The updates to TG0 93 came into effect last year and so far they have done precisely zero tests on any imported product to ensure it meets the regulation. If Australian companies have to meet a certain standard then imports should do to in order to make it a level playing field.
ECS has a cost of production lower than their overseas rivals even though they have to comply with stricter standards. That's part of the investment case.
