I'm not sure why you couldn't; both are a security, a form of value. A share is merely the division of a cash amount which fluctuates on market speculation just like cash itself does on the foreign exchange. I acknowledge that people have different opinions on this but I hold no reservations in my beliefs towards the system and how it should be run.
