I can't post the link, but yes, Eden have responded to the challenges of mix development from around the time when Valley Prestressed developed a proprietary summer and winter mix for precast bridge beams, which perhaps Eden wished they could give to other customers. I think around then they realised they needed an expert in concrete chemistry and hired someone that Rolling tried to discredit by calling him an "alchemist". But for him to work effectively they needed their own testing facilities.

I think some investors were also concerned by the fact that Edencrete needed to be tested with different regional cements and ambient conditions to find optimised mixes. Back then we were all just ignorant of the requirements for making high spec concrete. But I think Eden was also.
