i agree in theory that it is the responsibility of each poster to have integrity and honesty in their posts rather than pursue attempts to convince others to buy or sell, often surreptitiously.
the reality, however, is you can't gag free speech if it is not offensive or grossly incorrect factually.
each poster and reader must make up their own mind whether they agree or disagree with another's post, and how much weight they give to particular posts and to particular individuals.
Hot Copper tries to assist us in identifying expert posters via few mechanisms, but those with a good reputation are very influential and generally are honest to protect their reputation.
I tend to agree that posts being critical of a company are equally important to those complementing a company and its outlook. As an investor I am always looking for a piece of information or an insight that i have missed myself and that may change my thesis on whether to buy, hold or sell.
