Using 8% over 5% would reduce NPV by up to 20% which is material on a short mine life project. Add in tax and that could be up to another 30% less. So it all adds up and instead of the offer being 20% NPV5 (pre-tax) its actual closer to 50% of NPV8 (post-tax) which is not unreasonable.
