Picastoc, I reckon you are part of the problem with today's society.
You will always want to rationalise and make an excuse as to why a person who is way ,way old enough to know right from wrong and the consequences thereof, chooses to act badly.
The reason he acted like he did is because he thinks there are no consequences and he will get away with it. Society will excuse his behaviour, as you are quick to do. He thinks he has a right to make a political statement by assaulting this person whilst himself remaining unharmed. Therefore, he has, in effect, nothing to lose. If he films it and gets it on social media, he is a hero to his fellow morons, all on their iphones and if he gets caught, he gets a slap on the wrist or a fingerwagging and still gets exposure.
Stop making excuses for unacceptable behaviour and stop teaching kids they can do and say whatever they like.
