Shareholders Approve Share Placement
In accordance with s251AA(2) of the Corporations Act, and ASX Listing Rule 3.13.2,
Boart Longyear Limited (ASX:BLY) today announced that each resolution proposed
at the General Meeting held on 24 September 2009 was passed on a show of hands.
Set out below is a summary of the proxy instructions received for each of the
resolutions:

The Conditional Placement of 851,174,467 shares is expected to settle on Monday,
28 September 2009, and will result in proceeds of US$193 million1 (A$230 million).
These proceeds, together with net proceeds from the previously completed
Institutional Entitlement Offer, Retail Entitlement Offer and Unconditional Placement
will be used to repay the US$585 million term loan A which is due in April 2010.
Boart Longyear intends to offer all eligible shareholders in Australia and New
Zealand as of 24 September 2009 (the Record Date) the opportunity to participate in
a Share Purchase Plan (SPP). Further details related to the SPP will be announced
in the coming days.
