I have seen this action taken with another company which I was invested in. And yes, it meant the company had to spend money defending itself and it was almost broke at that point in time. Shareprice tanked to 0.001 and a 100:1 consolidation followed with a relisting under a new name and guess what - the shareprice continued to tank after consolidation. Mass shareholder loss in value.
