    Interesting read, skint.

But re"the brotherhood is back and war with Israel is back on the table."

Nah. Saw an interview with the brotherhood....they dont want the power, they dont want to govern, they deny being islamists...It seems they have always been/are demonised to keep power with Mubarak Inc...
The Egyptian people wouldnt want war with Israel...they know they'd be no match. The only danger to Israel's supremacy would be that they might refuse to act as a buffer to keep the Palestinians hemmed in, if they got their real democracy.
Thats what its all about, really, isnt it?
I agree with what you said re Tehran...and Obama actually apologised to the people of Iran for the US imposition of the Shah on them, in his speech to the Arab world. its a pity he felt compelled to back-pedal on every implied promise in his speech. The Iranians had a perfectly good and democratic govt in place till the US & oil companies interfered and gave them the brutal Shah....who was then replaced by the brutal Mullahs in return. The Iranian people, too, want real democracy....but not the type where they have to kneel to the US or Israel.
The egyptian revolution is being watched by all the Arab world. If the protesters succeeded, similar revolts would follow enmasse elsewhere. Hence, Iran is actually on-side with the West in support of Mubarak....
Be a bummer if there was a chain reaction of peace and democracy throughout the Middle East, eh?
But it seems its not going to happen soon...

    GZ
