    Geo_au,

Yeah there can be many twists and turns. I am reading a book on the Weimer Republic inflation in the 1920's currently. Gold in that case outperformed inflation by 2:1. Interesting the things that happen in a strong inflationary environment. All of a sudden the middle-class gets wiped out, i.e their savings turn to nothing. Wages don't rise to meet inflation. A hyper-inflationary environment leads to wealth transfer, i.e from middle-class to upper-class. 70 % of the worlds currency is currently fiat US dollars which is un-backed from anything physical. With all the money printing going on this is just a ticking time bomb waiting to explode that will no doubt be contrived. Problem is the whole globe is going to get it and it could very well make 2008 look like a party. The aftermath should see a global currency come into place which would have been the objective from the very start.
