A 'cuerpo 3' under San Antonio? Lacking localised detail info so...
Some arm waving and pure geopoetry that probably won't rhyme even at the best of times.
There is always a possibility of a bonanza at depth. However, it is seldom found. Why?:
- It doesn't exist is the most likely.
- Too many targets like this to warrant testing without some valid reason.
- Too deep to be tested with current tech and/or information.
- Complex structure makes finding it too difficult/expensive.
- Budgetary and corporate reasons.
- Many others
The location of San Antonio and Valentina along a prominent north south (in this area) fault zone
250K Government geology map.
More detail, but still regional from Steve Garwin's AIG talk.
Here is a 'partial!' data dump from GE.
Bedrock exposure is reasonable (GE and from mapping above) along the SA-V corridor (one zone of alluvials? just south of V) and probably to SZ
Some of the intrusives are quite well defined. The one to the east of SA may be there by coincidence and or separated by the NS structure - or not.
This relationship (SA & V to faulting) makes me wonder if there may be something driving the mineralisation from depth. That's obvious but what is the source of the fluids, Basin fluids from tectonics? Fluids off a blind intrusive?
There are a few hints of intrusives mapped along the fault though much further north. SG mentions the Cortadera intrusives are mid to late Cretaceous (91Mya) but may be another phase than #3 on the map. This shows the level of complexity of intrusions.
SA and V are probably quite high level if within a volcano-hydrothermal system. There may be geochemical or mineralogical markers that give some idea of roughly where in such a system.
In the high Andes there is a major structure (Domeyko Fault) that is related to some of the world's largest porphyries Radomiro - Chuqui - Escondida and more:
It is a different and smaller structure and intrusives along the V-SA-SZ zone but one can dream.
This may be easier than trying to predict the SP of HCH and what the market will do.
Geopoetry until the drills hit goodies.
Only regional scale maps available - geol and mag
The fault zone SZ to V + N & S appears to be a magnetic low. Maybe different at a more detailed scale.
