    Er, those are US cattle prices dude.

    Anyway, a fall in Australian cattle prices seems inevitable to me, and also necessary - high prices are making Aussie export less competitive O/S, reducing margins and enabling international competitors (India, Brazil and Russia etc) to get their foot in the door. None of this is in ELD LT interests

    @Fishinnick thinks high prices are here to stay (and he's a butcher as well as a trader so he's close to an authority on the topic), but I believe even if they do eventually drop it will be many years before this happens (several generations before the herd is sufficiently replenished for supply to recalibrate somewhat with demand). Fortunately global demand for red protein continues to grow, as do the size of our export markets
