I always look at the bottom line not the headlines
It is immaterial how "good" electric vehicles are
It is all about IF they are capable NOW and at what cost
Things in the laboratory and where cost is of no consequence is a far different proposition to what we need and can afford in everyday life
As to the benefit to the planet, that is also negligible and comes at immense cost
The whole reason for this drive is simply to put money in the pockets of the few big money men, and the greenies are being literally taken for a ride
As to the investment of the large manufacturers as a business man you would be crazy to spend money on anything else when government are pouring millions of tax dollars into (in this case) electric cars
