Very interesting article in the Courier mail this morning on these electric cars. Qld is prone to cyclones, bush fires, floods...when these storms hit power goes out, some times for days. People struggle to even charge their phones...how about a car? What happens when there is knock on the door and the SES are there telling you that you must evacuate the family now. Oops haven't charged the car yet. Or the family is trying to out run a bush fire and the car grinds to a halt as one of the kids took it for a spin last night and didn't tell you. Emergency service will not be considering electric cars for the foreseeable future as they are "emergency" vehicles...fat lot of good if the power is out and the Ambulance hasn't been charged up. So forget SES, Police, Ambulance or any other area of motor vehicle use where they are required to be ready to go at anytime. When the power grid is under stress which is becoming more regular since the lunacy of demolishing coal fired power stations became the favourite passtime of the nutty Labor / Green Coalition, Power companies will shut power down randomly and intermittently....so tough luck if you need your car and it isn't charged. As it is now Melbourne and Adelaide don't get through a summer without "load shedding"...so once you add cars to the power consumption more people will be enjoying cold showers. sweaty nights and cold dinners. Any body that has an electric car is leaving them selves vulnerable to having no transport if an emergency occurs, like a very sick kid for example. I wonder about the thousands of people that live in a High Rise apartment blocks? Is their Body Corp going to splash out millions of dollars to put in "fast charges" for the percentage of dwellers that are silly enough to buy an electric car? Those people will have to queue up at a servo possible for hours on end to plug in... Silly Billy has not thought anything through which is normal for the Labor Party...Pink Batts, NBN, NDIS, anyone?. EV's will only ever be the play thing of the wealthy and the stupid imo... ..

That's about as interesting as if arguing that ICE cars have a problem because: When cyclone/floods/bushfires strike, you can't fill up your tank. You can't get to petrol station and they are closed anyway. Or if you're trying to outrun bushfire but one of the kids took the car for a spin last night, didn't tell anyone and it grinds to a halt. How about if there was cyclone alert and someone is to stupid to buy enough McDonald's for few days? Does that mean that McDonalds is unsuitable for Australia? Please
