I recently watched a Youtube video where a UK car owner talked about his hybrid car and how he started off keen and charged his battery overnight ready for the next day. After a few months he started to forget doing it occasionally and then after one year he hardly ever bothered to charge the car. In the end he reckoned the only reason to buy a hybrid car was to get the incentives and pay less tax. Would he buy another hybrid? Yes, not because it was any good but it cost less to buy and own due to the incentives that are given.
Unfortunately lugging around an extra 400kgs of batteries, electric motors and wiring means that the car uses and extra 2 litres /100kms over the same model vehicle that doesn't have the hybrid option.
Just proves how much is given away in cash incentives.
