As you know, an LS, Coyote or Hemi option is a good thing these days. Reliable, easy to drive, very well understood, plenty of parts and upgrades available and tons of power and economy at the same time.

It's hard to go past one of those conversions.

That said, second hand prices of those engines have gone through the roof lately.

I was doing the numbers on an upgrade recently. Crate motor, transmission, maybe a diff. Add on an ecu, exhaust system, upgraded fuel system etc. I'm sure you know how those numbers can start lowish and then get out of control pretty quickly.
So then I went back to the cost of components for an ev conversion. Doing it myself , of course.

All of a sudden, the electric conversion doesn't seem so expensive.

Then there's the range. For sure the range is going to be less with an ev conversion.
When I started thinking about how far I, or anyone else, drives their old bangers I realised that they hardly get driven any distance at all. And not very often. So, for most custom cars, range probably isn't an issue.

The there's making the batteries fit. In the Camaro it would be an issue or a compromise as it would be in my old Chev. Especially to get decent with weight distribution and with minimal cutting.

In old utes on the other hand, not so much of an issue.......

Interesting, absolute polar opposites, if the price wasn’t an issue what would you do? Personally, I would always try to replicate the original to an extent, more power, refinement etc, but, it’d also be a novelty to go Electric conversion, I’d want both I reckon, depending on the mood/situation, I’m not overly familiar with conversions though.
