Yes, currently city commuting is good for electric vehicles and with short commutes you can probably get away with home trickle charging overnight. However, I think better public transport and a few incentives/discouragements could reduce the car commutes anyway and be far better for the environment. Perhaps those that need it have an electric and a petrol vehicle for the different modes. But with the push to go all electric by some, distance and time is an important consideration. If I have a 12 hour drive to Longreach to see the rel's I don't want to spend hours "filling up".
