Hi Col,
I got my first mobile phone around 1994, it cost $1150.
It was a Brick, not 1 of the really big original Mobile phones, but it would not fit in a shirt pocket.

I carried it around, half hanging out of my Trouser Pockets.
It only worked, in "most" built up areas, in major Cities.

To start with, it did not even work at home, where I lived. (The Foot Hills of Adelaide).

It did not send emails, it did not take photos, it did not work anywhere Outside of the major Cities.

About 3 Years later, I bought 2 Mobile Phones, for $ 500 each.

The Only advantage, was they were Smaller. But still not able to be used, in many locations, outside of the Cities.

They still did nothing more, than make expensive Phone calls.

My Next Phone was Cheaper, and Smaller again. Still not able to take Photos.
