I don't think you can blame Turnbull for the current dilemma, his team is captived of so called conservative , flat earthed" Abbott " forces within the party who still believe in coal as Australia no 1 energy source.
The mention of EV by the Energy Minister - Frydenberg few weeks ago got shouted down big time from within the Liberal Party.
At the end of the day, it is inevitable that EV will replace ICE vehicle with or without government subsidies, when EV price drop to around $35,000. (possibly 2 to 3 years away, max. 5 yrs away in Australia). The new Nissan Leaf to arrive in Australia in 2019 possibly with price tag of around $40,000
EV will be cheaper to run and low maintenance as well, it will win the day (even without gov subsidies.)
The lack of charging stations, range and household without garages issue can be overcome easily with innovative idea and technology eg. provision mobile charging service etc etc
Demand for Lithium is massive for the next 5 to 10 years, all the hoo haa of oversupply from Silver Donut and UBS will never happen.
Hold tight with your shares and enjoy the ride
