City commuting maybe but not long distance as most riders in the states go on a 300 to 400 mile run on a Sunday cruise.
Harley do market their product very well and as you said times are changing in what the market wants as you see with the different line up each year.
Over the years of late some models have disappeared like the Buell, V Rod last year and now this year the Dyna models have all gone.

The sound the one makes is something that has not changed in over 100 years as to the attraction that it may bring to some.

I use the word enthusiasts to avoid the general public that ride HD being categorized as a bikie or anyone that rides a motorcycle with a leather jacket.
When you bite the bitumen you appreciate that leather cladding.
