    from above. wtf
"let's say we discovered a cheap way of storing energy at home - some magic battery that was cheap - but, very heavy -
say, a couple of tons of some liquid - but, it could store enough to power a house for 2 weeks and charge 2 EV's --"
god help us he's had a wet dream.

As I pointed out on here years ago and published links. These were installed on King Island in Bass Strait a long time ago..... Catastrophic failure. (replaced them with VRLA.) These are an old tech but are being steadily improved.
When will people get their head around the fact that batteries don't make power?
These massive batteries that are being set up around the place do nothing but smooth out flows and changeovers in systems. After spending billions of dollars most of them last but a few minutes before needing recharging.
You will never run cities off chemical batteries while ever your rse points to the ground.
Most don't realise just how much power is lost in the transmission systems as well. These chemical conversion systems (batteries) only exacerbate the problems that already exist.
We will never win until we refine and perfect nuclear in one form or another and water. One has a high energy density but is more expensive and the other has a lower energy density falls out of the sky and is 100% renewable. Both for a lot of reasons compliment each other.
I note that the ev batteries now not only catch fire, but blow up and kill people. It just gets better and better. rolleyes.png
