lets hope no one gets killed by elon musk's crazy idea of reducing cobalt in batteries. in all honesty being a chemist it will be impossible to reduce cobalt much further than 6:2:2. every chemist knows what cobalt does to stabilize nickel and without it you create a bomb as we saw in that car on fire. IMO elon musk thinks he can do what ever he likes in chemistry but he dosn't understand it one bit. this guy is a menace and he reminds me of a medievil alchemist from the 1700's trying to turn lead into gold. he is dangerous imo and many shareholders in Tesla will be burnt big time (pardon the pun) if he continues down his cobalt reduction theory
With the right combination of elements, it was theorized, any substance on earth might be formed. This included precious metals as well as elixirs to cure disease and prolong life. Alchemists believed that the "transmutation" of one substance into another was possible; thus we have the cliché of medieval alchemists seeking to "turn lead into gold."
