Beyond the safety question, does anyone know if Tesla/Panasonic use responsibly sourced Cobalt?
Also has anyone factored in what the maintenance requirements would be(replacement batteries) and what the ongoing material requirements would be?
Even if by some miracle a Cobalt replacement is found in the next 2 or more decades. I would imagine their would still be a significant demand coming from maintenance/warranty issues.
