A spotters fee is an interesting concept. Tesla had done this for a couple of years by way of a referral code. Both parties were awarded with free kws of energy at Tesla superchargers. Some Tesla owners had clocked up tens of thousands of free kilometres by being such good proponents. As the scheme became more popular and demand of their vehicles have now outstripped supply (current wait times are now 3 to 5 months), Tesla have dropped it.
