The advertised wholesale price on AEMO is only part of the problem. Renewables are, by definition, distributed so the cost of HV transmission lines must be met, then coal stations must pay royalties to the states and RECs to the wind/solar generators. AEMO [or someone] then pays millions to the coal stations to keep them open in such a hostile business environment. Then your retailer charges for "poles and wires".
There are plenty of people with their hand in your pocket.
You say you are in the tropics so you will have some beach, river, country you are familiar with unlike city kids. Go for a walk on the beach or have some contact with nature and ask yourself how far the sea has risen, or if the river has dried up, whatever, degraded since you were young. I am 80 yrs old and and can go to all the places I fished, swan, went boating, rode my bike as a boy and NOTHING HAS CHANGED. Is climate change worth the angst?
