If you can afford to put in solar you get paid several times over the odds for selling any excess to the grid. Who pays? Not the Greens constituency but the people who can't afford it or people who rent for example.

Saw a report about some bloke in Brunswick Melbourne who did or the renewable stuff, water solar etc and the biggest plus for him was that it made him feel good.
Great. Lots of people will have to pay more so this fellow can feel good about himself.
