How much electricity does Olympic Dam consume again? Is it something like 200MW currently and 400MW during the expansion? If you look on the Geodynamics website they say that the cost of geothermal power generation is $45 per MWh. That makes it very competitive with the rest of the market even without carbon trading. If the price of carbon emissions were priced at $30 per tonne then according to Geodynamics you could add $30 per MWh onto coal fired power generation. So according to that article you posted that would make coal fired power generation at $100 per MWh next year.
