I reside most of the year in an asian country with atrocious to acceptable electrical wiring standards / practices whereby every year somebodies get electrocuted.
My question is why do we have earthed return, when if the feed from the transmission voltage [ eg 66000V ] when stepped down to 220V was done with an isolating transformer with no earth, would you then not have to be in contact with both legs of the circuit to get electrocuted a far less likely occurence than contacting one leg with a return via earth?
