For many years there has been talk of elephants in Rum Jungle but never conclusive proof. Reported sightings included various types of elephants over the years, including elephant sized ore bodies of base metal and uranium types. More recently very large stools have been found around the Batchelor area, characteristic of elephants and their diet according to examination by zoologists.

Intrepid HC elephant hunter 2ic examined the evidence and made a very strong case for the presence of a white elephant at the Compass Batchelor mine site. A CMR company report to the market on Friday indicated that they were in fact in possession of a Great White Elephant and this announcement was supported yesterday by respected elephant analyst Huntley’s.
