elephant in the room again . . .

Pity the poor Egyptians, having to go through all this once more.
I was talking to some Egyptians just a few months after Morsi came to power and they were saying that things were now worse for them than under the old regime, they were very unhappy. Angry that their revolution had been hi-jacked, angry that Morsi was trying to give himself dictatorial powers. I asked what was coming next and they said: 'we'll have to have another revolution'. Well here it is.
Let's hope this can be settled peacefully, but it might not be so we'd better gird our loins for that eventuality. One good thing is that the army seems more interested in preserving the fabric of society than enforcing the position of one side or the other. If the so called 'road map' that the army has released is followed, if it comes to that, everyone can be thankful that they gave Egypt another chance.
In any event, it looks at though extremism and exclusion could be ousted by moderation and inclusion; let's hope so.
