The army's taking over the mechanisms of government in Egypt is positive news for GIP's prospects. It brings stability to a situation that was getting dangerously out of control in which Morsi was using the results of a democratic election to impose an Islamist dictatorship. In the process Egypt's economy had suffered badly.
A new and more rational administration will see GIP's Egyptian operations as providing employment, earning foreign exchange and potentially contributing to the national coffers. Hopefully this will now clear the way for lenders to provide the funds we need.
