Likewise Labor has promised the world with uncosted promises and when they are eventually voted out in three? years their slate will be wiped clean too and its why they are all happy with a 3 year term.

Its different in an Autocracy - they need an external enemy to blame and to stir up the plebs.
Hence Russia and Ukraine, China and Taiwan - no intention or capacity to actually invade, but good to stir and divert attention from their shocking per capita GDP (about 10,000).
