@peejay2. Thanks for the above link. I found it useful as a tool to "look backwards" at my investment decisions. It is a humbling exercise. Happy to say I didn't pick any of the dogs over 3 years. Beating the index in Australian large cap shares or the MSCI index (international shares ) is not easy, and arguably not worth the effort. However that worm may just have turned IMO. The rise of active vs passive management.(i.e. the momentum nature of ETF / index investing is a self-fulfilling feedback loop).
My investing experience goes back about 3 decades, and I now start to get nervous when the share market gets too optimistic (sentiment) and commentators start to build assumptions into earnings / stock prices as if they are near certainties after a 2-3 year bull market run. The recent sell-off that commenced on 5th December is concerning. From a technical perspective the XAO dropped below the 8375 support level on 20th Dec. I've raised my cash levels considerably (sold equities) in my super portfolio over the last week. Ditched underperformers, trimmed my winners and now building cash. Same with my direct share holdings. This is not investment advice. It's just that I need to de-risk my overall position for personal reasons. I'm still holding a lot of equities.
