I am perfectly happy with the idea of Australia getting more for its resources.
I am also in favour of making sure that foreign companies pay the appropriate amount of tax on their Australian activities.
But once you sign a contract , you are stuck with it. Sovereign risk is very dangerous floating around a trading economy.
Any future resources are fair game for plundering.
Questions.
What percentage of the value of a resource should be returned to us peasants ?
How should it be distributed?
Which brings us back to the tax question.
A laudable aim , getting rid of income tax .
But why would you set up a company if you pay no tax outside companies?
