and we committed to spend a trillion on allowing the yanks to park their subs in Oz and for a couple of old tech second hand jobs --------- with a factor normally about 3:1 of cost overruns for military - the bill goes over 1 trillion
incredibly we could have used a fraction of that to develop the entire NW gas supply and had full Ozzie ownership and full profit ------
imagine if we got ALL the profit from the NW shelf? ------ social housing, free tertiary education - to PhD levels - for anyone - including foreigners - who would pay a big bond before hand and be bound to work in Oz for a min period of 10 years post doc etc - or forfeit the bond. Better health, better hospitals, more roads, dams, power stations etc
instead - we get zip from the gas and a couple of dud subs -----------
