Yep, the Eloise mine site is about 50 minutes drive from Cloncurry.

I worked there as a Senior Underground Diamond Driller for Barminco doing deep underground exploration holes from October thru January of 04/05. I thought it had very little mine life left then, however, things may have changed since I left. It was a deep, old, very hot and unsafe operation then. If they are ramping up their prospects or operations I could only imagine they have found another ore body close by and intend to develope another mine altogether. Or they may, feel or have found subsequent ore bodies (i.e missed something on the way down) hanging off or close to the main structure.

It is a geographically rich and exciting area for mining companies, of that there can be no mistake. Afterall, there aren't too many great old classic mining towns like the very near Mt. Isa (while nothing compared to days of old) left.
